Living Time Forward and Backward

Living Time Forward and Backward, October Art Exhibit
Living Time Forward and Backward
Physicists postulate that time doesn’t fly—it just is. In "Living Time Forward and Backward" by surrealist artist Ellen Hosafros, she explores common perceptions related to time. The crow laughs at the folly of the mourning dove who plucks the number 4 from the Time Machine to disrupt the universal clock. The joke’s on the dove; in some cultures, "4" relates to the ultimate time suck: death. Swirling clock hands regurgitate past stored memories whose truths blur over time but retain the power to trigger self-recrimination. Meanwhile, the industrious crow burns the candle at both ends; the rich and powerful matron becomes richer and more powerful but can’t stop the inevitable loss of youth; and the cat ponders how many of her nine lives she has remaining…but has bever been good with numbers. Surrealist Salvador Dali, famous for his melting timepieces, exists in the afterlife as a teapot with no spout, and no explanation for this lack of symbolism in a painting about time. As for Father Time, he continues to churn out seconds, minutes and hours because everyone (except physicists) knows time flies.
