Being

Being, October Art Exhibit
Being
Shakespeare’s legendary quote “To be or not to be, that is the question,” is included in this piece to pose the haunting question that if we never fully express ourselves in life, did we ever really experience what it is to be? Or will our souls stay in the infantile stage of who we are—the egg—forever? The egg symbolizes pure potential, waiting to grow and be unleashed. The cracked nature of the eggshell symbolizes the collective of humanity starting to break free of the rigid framework of limiting mindsets and beliefs that is created by the body and society’s idea of who we should be—as denoted by the clear resin cube—through radical self expression, but we are only in the beginning stages of that new era of existence, which is why the cracked egg is still in the silicon mold—for now.
