Over the years I have created a series of paintings I call ‘Excavation Paintings’. This is one of those.
I had a dream that had beautiful birds and falling letters, so that was the beginning of this work. I used a Flamingo, they are about as surreal as anything out there and I like looking at them, perhaps even more surreal is one being walked by a lady. Generally crows are an interesting and fairly social bird, I like to use my own photos when I paint them but I refer to the internet to gain info on their eyes and beaks. Collage is not something I usually do but this painting lent itself to collage since I wanted to glue on the letters. Anyway one thing and another led me through this painting
